   WELCOME TO BYBAHAMAS

Bahama WOODSTAR

While visiting The Bahamas, you’ll never know what you’ll find here. Birdwatchers say they’ve spotted over 100 species of birds here, but locals say that the native hummingbird or Bahama Woodstar is among the star performers.

The Bahama hummingbird is a medium-sized bird that is found throughout The Islands of The Bahamas but this little gem appears to favor the southern island of Inagua. Of the two genders, the male Woodstar has a more distinctive look – the male bird bears a shiny, purple throat – that is absent from the female bird. Hummingbirds are amazing and are loved throughout the world. If you love birding and if you love The Bahamas, you’ll want to see this bird up close at ByBahamas. But until you get here, you can create your own colored experience.

Bahama PARROT

Bahamians aren’t the only ones who enjoy the tropical island fruits. During the Summer months, The Bahama parrot can be seen peeling guinep skins and eating the fleshy pulp.

The Bahama Parrot is native to The Bahamas and is the only native parrot found in the archipelago. The Bahama Parrot can be found on Abaco and Inagua. However, due to the limited population, The Bahama Parrot is an endangered species. If you love birding and if you love The Bahamas, you’ll want to see this bird up close. But until you get here, you can create your own colored experience.

 Bahama FLAMINGO

The flamingo, a wading roseate, is the pride of The Bahamas – it is the country‘s national bird. The Bahamas has one of the largest breeding colonies of the West Indian flamingo in the world. It is believed that there are 60 to 80,000 flamingos that can be found primarily on the Bahama island called Inagua. Did you know that young flamingos are born white? And that adult flamingos weigh about 4-8 pounds (1-3 Kg). if you love birding and if you love The Bahamas you’ll want to see these dazzling beauties up close or you can color one here!

The flamingo is the national bird of the Bahamas

Bahama White Cheeked pintailed Duck

The white-cheeked pintail (Anas bahamensis), also known as the Bahama pintail or summer duck is a species of dabbling duck. It is found in the Caribbean, South America, and the Galápagos Islands. It occurs on waters with some salinity, such as brackish lakes, estuaries, and mangrove swamps. The white-cheeked pintail feeds on aquatic plants and small creatures obtained by dabbling. Very distinctive duck with its white cheeks, throat, and tail contrasting with its brown body.
